We would like to wish all our listeners a happy and safe holiday season.
Mr. Toft and Mrs. Smith
In this episode you will hear our first Portable Radio episode of Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader as produced by Tahmoor and William. Listen in and hear how Kyle, Isaiah and Jake celebrate Christmas. Taylor, Luka, and Connor share stories about their most embarrassing moments. You will also hear a Gibberish game that we play in drama.
When Mr. Toft had to stay home to take care of his son we experimented with Skype. As you will hear in this segment, it was almost as if he was in the classroom with us. We hope to use Skype in the future to interview other people around the world.
We received a voice mail from Benjamin which you will hear at the end of the show. As always we invite you to leave a comment here by clicking on the comment button. E mail addresses are not required.
You can also leave a voice mail. Call 613-831-8853 extension 358 (Mr. Toft’s voicemail)
We love to hear from our listeners. Don’t forget to tell us your first name and let us know where you are calling from. Your message might end up in a future episode.

Hi.
I liked the part in the podcast that tells us what a few people do on Christmas and I’d like to share what I do on Christmas. On Christmas Eve, My family goes to one of our relative’s house and have a party there. Near the end of the party, one of my aunts put on a Santa hat and sits on a stool in front of the Christmas tree. All the children bring in a garbage bag and sit on the floor facing our aunt with the Santa hat on. Under the tree, are gifts from all of our relatives. Next, our aunt picks up one of the presents and reads who it is to and is from. Whoever the gift is addressed to, that person takes the gift and puts it in their garbage bag. One all the presents are gone, we stay up a little longer at the the Christmas party while someone gives out $20 to each of us. As soon as we get home, we empty the bag and dump all the gifts under our tree.

Hi “Portable Radioites”!!!
Just finished listening to Epidsode 7! It’s a few days after Christmas so to hear about how you spend Christmas Eve and Christmas Day put me “back in time”……to that magical evening and day. I chuckled to hear Mrs. McGregor address Mr. Toft as “Mrs. Smith” during the skyping segment. In this episode, I enjoyed the laugh track that was inserted after the question asked of Mr. Toft “wearing a hat”. I think that there must have been an inside joke in this segment that I didn’t fully “get”. I’ll chat with a few of you in January so that you can help me “get it”…ha, ha!!!! I also liked listening to Mr. Toft’s voicemail and hearing about a student in a school in Kanata who had just finished reading the newly published book on podcasting written by Mrs. Smith and Mr. Toft.
Looking forward to more podcasts in 2008!
PS….Santa brought me an ipod!!!!
Your fan,
Ms. C
Hello Everyone,
I loved that podcast! The music was so cool . My favorite part was when William and Tahmoor did the game show. I can’t wait for their next epiosode! I also loved when everyone talked about what they do on Christmas. On Christmas Eve my family and I always go to the movies. Then we come home and have a seafood dinner. We then check where Santa is in the world and then go to bed. On Christmas Day we open our presents, have brunch and then our relaitives come over. Happy New Year Everyone!!
