Portable Radio P.O.V #11 – Should CBC Replace Their Hockey Theme? [1:38]

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) has decided not to renew their contract with composer Dolores Claman to use her song as their Hockey Night in Canada theme. While this music has been used as their theme for almost 40 years, CBC has decided it was too expensive. Instead, they plan to find a new piece of music to introduce their show next season.

    We’re glad you like our podcasts.

    The Point of Views come from current news stories. Mr. Toft and Mrs. Smith usually bring in the stories and get students to give their opinions.

    The ideas for our regular podcasts come from our students?

    I agree that they should keep it. Because people know the song really well. It is been around for a long time. The TV station can afford to pay her.
