Portable Radio is even more “portable” this year. We have three classes involved in this project: Mrs. Smith’s Grade 5 class at South March Public School in Kanata, Mr. Toft’s Grade 5 and Mr. Baird’s 4/5 classes are both at A. Lorne Cassidy Elementary in Stittsville, Ontario. All three classes are part of the Ottawa Carleton District School Board.
Here’s what is on the show:
Maggie tells us why she wants a hamster
Abeer tells us about Eid
Sheridan shares an experiment
Maxim talks about soccer
Caitlin and Lauren talk about the life Tony Heart (a softball!)
Keegan tells us how to spend out spare time

Mr. Baird’s grade 4s sing about the province of Canada

Mr. Toft’s grade 5s create a song using only their first names

We listend to the show today and here are some of our thoughts about it. We really liked it and were excited to listen but we have a few comments.
We could hear a bit of blowing into the microphone. We could also hear some background noise. Please try to lower the background noise because it is hard to hear people talking. We liked the cat piece because there was a lot of detail. Some of us really agree with the person who didn’t like grass hoppers. We liked the name song. We are trying to make our own. It was funny when someone said that the grasshopper peed on your hand. We also liked the recorder playing. We had some trouble hearing some people who were speaking a bit fast. In a couple of the pieces the background music was a bit loud. Maybe the show was a bit long. Some of our students remembered singing the Canada song when they were in grade 4. We wondered if we needed more instructions about the experiment with the beer bottle. It was hard to hear the Tony story because there was a bit too much laughing. We should slow down a bit when you are talking. We really liked the hamster piece. We are hoping to get some of our ideas recorded soon. Then you will be able to give us feedback too. You guys did a great job getting the first podcast out. We really appreciate Mr. Toft’s work in getting this podcast out.
