The Point of Views come from current news stories. Mr. Toft and Mrs. Smith usually bring in the stories and get students to give their opinions.

Hi!

I just read about your podcast in Voice magazine. It has inspired me to look you
up and figure out how to make my own! I have been teaching since year 2000 and after writing a book last spring I decided to supply teach this year and do some travelling. So… I can’t do a podcast with a class until I decide to go back to the classroom full-time. In the meantime I’m going to figure out how to make one so that I’m prepared when I go back!

We’re from Ms.Boxer’s class from ACES! We think that kids 11 and up should be able to have a cell phone because us younger kids can be responsible like a 18 year old and some parents trust us with this kind of stuff!!!

Just listened to the segment on Ray Emery. The compliments from the professional sports broadcasters was something that you can be very proud! I especially like the fact that the 2 commentators were ready to give you 15 minutes on air!!! I am also impressed that the host of the show, Kathleen Petty, is very familiar with Portable Radio. Seems to me that your work is a regular “source” for this station! Well done.

I very much enjoyed your podcast on CBC yesterday. Both points of view regarding Ray Emery were compelling but I have to agree with those who feel that Emery should go, unless of course he can grow up and exhibit the some degree of maturity. He could learn a few things from the “portable1kids.

What a great subject to take on! We are all proud of our skating rink and that really came across in your opinions. Also, I liked your point about the width of the Winnipeg rink. Even if they complete their rink, it isn’t covering the same amount of space as ours when you consider the width. You can be very proud of your broadcast; everyone spoke clearly and the scripts were well planned out and fit together well. Bravo!

I was really impressed with the quality of the work of the students. The subject of the skating rink is a good one as it is a “real issue”. I have passed the website on to a teacher in Grade 9 who is starting to get into podcasting. Bravo.

I also visited portableradio.ca and saw that you had visitors from around the world. This has to be very impressive for students in Grade 5…. it was for me!

We had a long discussion about how you recorded your interviews and then we saw the picture in the Board Report to the Community where one of your students is holding the little recorder. Hello Everyone,

I loved that podcast! The music was so cool . My favorite part was when William and Tahmoor did the game show. I can’t wait for their next epiosode! I also loved when everyone talked about what they do on Christmas. On Christmas Eve my family and I always go to the movies. Then we come home and have a seafood dinner. We then check where Santa is in the world and then go to bed. On Christmas Day we open our presents,have brunch and then our relaitives come over. Happy New Year Everyone!!

Hi “Portable Radioites”!!!

Just finished listening to Epidsode 7! It’s a few days after Christmas so to hear about how you spend Christmas Eve and Christmas Day put me “back in time”……to that magical evening and day. I chuckled to hear Mrs. McGregor address Mr. Toft as “Mrs. Smith” during the skyping segment. In this episode, I enjoyed the laugh track that was inserted after the question asked of Mr. Toft “wearing a hat”. I think that there must have been an inside joke in this segment that I didn’t fully “get”. I’ll chat with a few of you in January so that you can help me “get it”…ha, ha!!!! I also liked listening to Mr. Toft’s voicemail and hearing about a student in a school in Kanata who had just finished reading the newly published book on podcasting written by Mrs. Smith and Mr. Toft.
Looking forward to more podcasts in 2008!

PS….Santa brought me an ipod!!!!
